In 2008, too, two further
rate cuts totaling -125 bps were necessary before the market bottomed out at -19% lower. The situation in 2011, however, was different. Although the market had already fallen by -14% in the wake of the euro crisis, it had already stabilized by the time of the first rate cut in November 2011 due to the ECB’s bond-purchase program. Furthermore, the rate cut was merely a response to slowing economic growth, not an acute recession. Thus, the timing of the first rate cut would have been a fairly good entry point (the market fell by 4% over the next two weeks and then moved in only one direction…).[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://ha-gim.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Zinssenkungsphase-enge-Difinition-nach-Bloomberg-scaled.webp” alt=”“Interest Rate Cut Cycle” (narrow definition according to Bloomberg)” title_text=”“Interest Rate Cut Cycle” (narrow definition according to Bloomberg)” _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” text_font_size=”14px” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]

Source: Bloomberg, ICE BofA Euro High Yield Index (HE00), “rate cut cycle” (narrow definition) = first through last rate cut

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.7″ _module_preset=”default” header_3_font=”|700|||||||” header_3_font_size=”20px” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” text_font=”Celias – medium||||||||” text_font_size=”21px” sticky_enabled=”0″]

2024?

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” header_3_font=”|700|||||||” header_3_font_size=”20px” custom_padding=”||20px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]The interest rate cut cycle in 2024 differs significantly from those of 2001–02 and 2008, as there is currently no acute crisis and no increased risk of recession is apparent.
